Cloud computing now offers businesses a new way of storing data or running applications which can often be cheaper and more readily accessible than other methods. In addition cloud computing offerings include no hardware investments or software licenses, faster implementation and the benefit of being able to access data and applications from anywhere with an internet connection. However, organisations need to be aware of the risks and how to mitigate them as there are also potential disadvantages which could include the lack of support, privacy, speed, security, as well as data protection considerations and the need to have an internet connection.
